經濟部表示，因TPP並非川普亞太外交經貿策略的優先選項，預料川普上任美國總統後將暫時擱置該協定；另外，川普重視貿易協定執行，台美經貿議題處理恐將面臨更大壓力。
立法院外交及國防委員會十四日將邀外交部、國安局、國防部，以及經部報告「美國總統暨國會大選結果對我國之影響評估」。
根據經濟部送達立法院的書面報告指出，美國總統當選人川普對亞太的外交政策仍以美國利益為優先，將對中國大陸操控匯率、濫用貿易等課徵懲罰性關稅，將可能對亞洲供應鏈產生不利影響，除將衝擊中國大陸對美出口，並將影響各國對中國大陸的中間財出口。
